jute is the natural alternative to plastic
Jute is one of the greatest natural fibres available. Used traditionally to package tea, coffee and grains, it was used all over the world to transport important food stuffs and other goods.

Our modern day equivalent has been developed along the same lines. With an average lifespan of 3-4 years, just 1 of our jute or juco bags would replace the need for over 600 plastic bags, thereby saving over 10kg of CO2.

Jute is the second most important natural fibre after cotton; not only in terms of cultivation, but also for its sustainability. The whole plant is used - the fibres are used to make bags, fabrics, twine/rope, shoes, carpet backing, the outer husk is used for firewood, and the leaves are used for food.

Traditionally farmed, it is grown in similar conditions to organic produce. There is crop rotation, little or no pesticides are used and nothing is genetically modified.

Jute has one of the lowest carbon footprints of any reusable bag. 2-3 times lower than heavy duty plastic bags, and nearly 4-5 times lower than cotton, jute bags are the ideal way to reduce your carbon footprint.

As global water supplies diminish, the water footprint of a product is becoming more and more important. Unlike cotton, jute is mainly rain fed, and uses little or no pesticides, resulting in very little pollution.
FACTOID - It is estimated cotton uses 2.5% of the world's water! |
