In addition to the short case studies of some of our customers detailed below, working closely with our customers, we have put together a series of case studies. The links below will take you direct to pdf's that illustrate actual case studies on some of our customers, and some further ideas on what our ethically produced reusable jute bags can be used for in your organisation.

First introduced trial bags in stores in late 2006.  This was followed by a full company rollout in May 2008 with 2 different sizes of bag. This rollout was part of Asda’s commitment to reduce plastic carrier bags by 25% and formed part of the new range of bags for life.

First bags went into Sainsbury’s in mid 2006 to be promoted alongside organic fortnight. These proved very successful and Sainsbury’s decided to keep these as a stock line.  In mid 2007 they decided to change the design to the Apple bag. Since then the sales have maintained at a good level and the new design was introduced in October 2009.

First supplied Tesco in November 2006, with the original Tesco Ladybird design bag.  This bag proved hugely successful. As part of Tesco’s ClubCard promotion they changed the design of the bag in August 2007 to the Green Natural Bag.  In May 2008 Tesco Launched the Juco bag with an embroidered Ladybird design.  In July 2008, Tesco reverted back to the original Ladybird design and this is still the design.  Tesco then decided in September 2008 to add a larger ladybird bag to their range giving the customer a choice of three different jute bags.

Jutexpo’s first major retail customer.  A 6 bottle wine bag was launched in Waitrose in 2005, a first for the large food retailers and proved to be pivotal for Jutexpo.  In early 2006 Waitrose launched 3 bags for their Quick Check customers, this included a padded bag for frozen foods.  Towards the end of 2007 Waitrose also launched their own Juco shopper.  They launched a special Christmas 2008 bag and will launch a new 6 bottle wine bag in early 2009.

They asked customers what they thought about eco-bags that could be used again and again in place of paper ones. The regulars loved the idea, and they were delighted. “We use them in a variety of ways, for handtied bouquets, house plants and to make up gift bags of candles or gardening equipment,” owner Joanna and colleague Helen explained.  “We know they’re popular because we see them being used all over town".

For many years now, we have supplied the Environment Agency regions with bags to help promote World Environment Day (5th June).  These are stylish bags, designed by Red or Dead designer Wayne Hemingway.  More recently, the EA teamed up with ASDA to sell a unique bag to help raise money for the WaterAid charity.

Macmillan Cancer Research first placed an order in January 2008 for 3000 GH034 bags which were printed at our factory in India.  The bags were used in their catalogue and proved to be a huge success.  Since the initial order Macmillan have placed a further 4 orders totalling 11,000 bags for their catalogues.    Each order had a new design printed on the GH034 bag.  The bags have become one of their best selling items and have proven to be a great way to support a valued and important charity whilst helping the environment.
